Stone wash finish

Stone wash finish is a special surface treatment, used for textiles and for the treatment of metal or steel products. The treatment process is referred to as stone-washing, and the treated product is often called stone washed or simply washed.

How is the adjustment carried out?

The treatment literally consists of washing the treated clothes in industrial machines / washing machines together with larger stones. Smaller stones are used for knives and other products.

What is the result of the adjustment?

In the field of outdoor clothing, the treatment is most often applied to jeans, shorts, jackets, vests and the like. The modification is also used, for example, by the company Surplus in the clothing of the Raw Vintage product line.

The new clothes, which have gone through the stone-washing process, i.e. the artificial wear of the fabric, have a modern, interesting and attractive washed look. The treatment also helps to increase the softness and flexibility of the fibers.

Outside of clothing, stone finishing is often used for the treatment of knife blades, various classic and multi-functional tools, but it is also applied to metal belt buckles, metal backpack buckles and other metal components.

This treatment gives the treated object a matte finish. The stone wash surface finish eliminates unwanted glare, for example, on tactical and survival knives. It also provides an excellent aesthetic impression—the treatment perfectly hides possible minor scratches caused by handling the material during production and during subsequent use of the product, and the matte surface creates a nice contrast with the polished surfaces of other parts of the knife or other product. Stone-washing, for example, can also be done additionally on the blade of the knife (relatively detailed pictorial and video instructions can easily be found on the Internet).
