Powder coating

Powder coating is a type of surface treatment, also known as powder painting.

How is the adjustment carried out?

The dry powder is applied by spraying onto the surface of the treated material. The coating is usually electrostatically attached and then heat-cured to form a kind of "skin" on the workpiece. This thin film can be made of thermoplastic or thermoset polymers (thermoplastics or reactoplastics). Powder application creates a solid surface that is stronger than conventional coatings. it is carried out in special chambers or can also be carried out manually, using a pressure gun.

What is the result of the adjustment?

Powder coating is mainly used for the surface treatment of metal products, such as household appliances, various items of daily use for the home, office and production process, aluminium profiles, components and parts of cars, motorcycles and bicycles. Newer technologies also allow the use of treatment on other materials, such as MDF boards. There are really many uses for powder coating. In the outdoor area, this treatment is used in the finishing of knife blades, in various classic and multi-functional tools, in camping equipment and in many other products.

The powder is applied dry and due to the absence of a liquid carrier, it does not flow—the differences in appearance between surfaces treated in a vertical position and those treated in a horizontal position are minimal. The surface of the treated object is smooth and more durable. In addition, several colors can be applied in one layer before hardening, which will allow, even with a thin film on the surface of objects, interesting and special effects created by blending colors.
