Aluminum alloy 6061 belongs to the structural duralumin. Due to its excellent properties, it is used to produce products that focus on strength and durability while maintaining a low weight.
The 6061 alloy belongs to the so-called durals, which are alloys of aluminum with other additives. Aluminum alloy 6061 is as light as ordinary aluminum, but it also excels in strength, sufficient hardness, good machinability and excellent weldability. Improvement of the mechanical properties of this alloy can be achieved by heat treatment, then after the numerical designation there is an addition in the form of the letter T with a number, for example T6. Thanks to its excellent mechanical and technological properties, this alloy is used for the production of a wide range of products, especially those that are exposed to mechanical stress.
